Emmaus Story

The story of Emmaus began to take shape back in 2008, as God began to show us the exciting opportunity in an emerging new community in South Surrey. It began even before the houses and condo’s or even “Home Depot” was open. It started through conversations with friends, who worked with developers, and builders. Alongside that story line, God was working in my life and my wife’s life, leading us to consider the idea of planting a church. As we began to explore this, God opened doors and brought a variety of people into our lives. What started as many different conversations, God began to weave people together to share in the Vision of planting a new church. This story has been one in which we have discovered a common thread of trusting and waiting for Jesus to move and provide. I have learned that trusting in Jesus is an exciting adventure, sometimes His plans and purpose come to fruition in different ways then we expected. It is in that part of the story that we discover how to listen to Jesus, and how to continue to trust in His leading. Emmaus began as a small group of people meeting in our home, by word of mouth and by meeting people in our community we began to grow in numbers. We always knew that our church would go on to meet in a public space, and so in September 09 Emmaus Church was launched in the rented space of Pacific Heights Elementary School. After five months we continue to see God at work, shaping our community as we yield to Him and to His teachings found in the Bible. I would like to invite you to join in with this story, and discover that Jesus really is worth following.
